Testing Designer II

Position Purpose:

Provide technical support for engineering analysis, prototyping and testing for product development and other activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Document test setup and results on a per test basis of already established standard tests
    • Create reports that not only give the results of a test but also an explanation of results in a manner other not with an engineering background can understand.
  • Setup, monitor, and troubleshoot already established standard tests
  • Provide assembly assistance with regards to (but not limited to):
    • Engineering prototypes
    • Testing jigs and fixtures
  • Aid in the development of installation procedures, time standards, and best practices as related to the proper assembly and installation of Knapheide products.
  • Technical Skills
    • Ability to monitor, record and save RMC graphs
    • Ability to start/ end established RMC programs
    • Ability to tune established RMC programs
  • Develop and maintain testing standards to ensure repeatability
  • Create 3D scanned models of objects as assigned
  • Assist in modeling and creating drawings of test fixtures
  • Assist in application of strain gages
  • Performs other duties, assignments, and special projects assigned by the Engineering Manager, Project Manager, or Vice President of Engineering.

Position Requirements:

  • Associates degree in drafting and 3+-year relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field and 1+-year relevant experience.
  • Must be able and feel comfortable communicating about tests and results with customers and individuals in all levels of the Knapheide organization
  • Working knowledge of a 3D CAD system (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills required.
  • Must have good analytical and decision-making skills and be able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have adequate PC skills with a working knowledge of AS400, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Must be adept in blueprint reading and be able to determine assembly requirements / processes there in.
  • Ability to maintain focus and convey a positive attitude during challenging situations.
  • Ability to interact successfully with all functional areas of the company.
  • Must possess good organizational skills and willingness to take ownership of an area, keeping it clean and well laid out at all times.
  • Willingness to travel with respect to the position activities (on site and off site) required. < 10%

Certifications Required:

  • Solidworks Associate certification
  • Solidworks Sheetmetal certification
  • Solidwork Drawing certification

Physical/mental requirements needed to perform the essential functions of the position:

  • Must be capable of doing light to medium mechanical work onsite or in the field.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and able to operate light and medium duty vehicles.
  • Must be able to work for extended periods of time, un-supervised, and still successfully complete all given tasks in a timely manner.
  • Normal standing, bending, walking, lifting in an office environment
